On Frequency & Energy
CYMATICS: Science Vs. Music - Nigel Stanford
Cymatics is the study of visible sound and vibration, demonstrating how acoustic energy frequencies organize physical matter into complex geometric patterns. Pioneered by Hans Jenny, this phenomenon reveals that specific sound frequencies (vibrational energy) cause particles, liquids, or sand on surfaces to form stable, symmetric shapes, illustrating the fundamental connection between sound and material form.
Fundamental Principles: Derived from the Greek kyma ("wave"), cymatics shows that vibration (frequency) creates structure. It acts as a bridge between sound and visible geometry.
One experiment that particularly incorporated the ancient and sacred Sanskrit syllable of “OM”, which is widely regarded by Hindu and related traditions to be the “primordial sound of creation”, or “the original vibration of the universe.” When observing how the vocalisation of OM was represented as a cymatic pattern, it was found that the lycopodium powder simply formed a circle with a dot in the centre. This pattern, known as a circumpunct, is an ancient symbol that has come to represent many things including God, consciousness, wholeness, and unity.
The Frequency-Spirituality Connection
Sound Creates Reality: Cymatics suggests that the universe is a symphony of vibrations, where everything—from particles to celestial bodies—is in a constant state of resonance.
Sacred Geometry: The patterns formed by sound often mimic sacred geometry, such as mandalas or crystalline structures, aligning with the ancient belief that geometry is a divine, foundational language.
Healing Frequencies: Specific frequencies, often referred to as Solfeggio frequencies, are believed to have healing properties. Examples include 528 Hz for DNA repair/cellular healing and 963 Hz for activating the pineal gland.
Consciousness and Water: Researcher Masaru Emoto and others have suggested that human consciousness (thoughts, words, emotions) can influence the molecular structure of water, producing harmonious shapes with positive input (e.g."gratitude") and chaotic forms with negative input.
Spiritual Practices: Chanting and mantra work are seen as ways to produce specific, harmonious vibrations that align personal energy with higher, cosmic frequencies.
Key Concepts and Applications
Resonance: Objects (including cells) vibrate at natural frequencies. Cymatics proves that sound can cause these objects to vibrate in harmony.
Cytology/Sound Therapy: This involves using specific frequencies to restore balance in the human body, which is composed of 70% water and acts as a sound conductor.
The "Secret of Creation": The idea that sound—the "Word" or sound vibration—is the fundamental force behind the creation and maintenance of the physical world.
